Homeward Bound

We left the hotel at 6 AM and arrived at Hong Kong International Airport a little before 7.
We had a fabulous time in Hong Kong and did and saw almost everything on our todo list. There is an old saying, that says  you should always leave something for the next time.

Our plane left on time and arrived early into JFK, only 14 hours this time. We had a 3 hour layover and then a 2 1/2 hour flight home. Needless to say we are exhausted, but we have great pictures and memories to fall back on.

A collage of great memories...

Man Mo Temple

This morning we went to re-visit the Man Mo Temple, 1800's temple featuring a lavish traditional interior with dozens of incense spirals overhead. The temple is a smoky, aesthetic wonderland used to this day by locals to pray for academic or literary success.

Lunch at Ye Shanghai at a different location, this time in the Pacific Place Mall

Not straying far from Hotel

As various demonstrations were planned in parts of Hong Kong and weekends seem to be when most demonstrations are planned, we decided on the advice of hotel personnel to postpone our plans for another day. We did so and decided to go tomorrow Monday, meanwhile the weather today was beautiful with plenty of sunshine so we suffered thru spending the day at the pool.

Tram Day...

The morning was filled with adventure, taking a Tram ride thru various sections of Hong Kong...Come along with us as we show you the sights.

As the weekend seems to be the timing for demonstrations, we decided to err on the side of caution and stayed in the hotel having dinner in the adjacent mall without incident. On our way back to our room we noticed hotel guests watching a commotion on the street across from the hotel, which turned out to be a minor protest that dispersed within 30 minutes. This was our second viewing of a protest, they were both peaceful without incident.

Another great day! Bird Park, the Flower Market, Victoria Peak, Lunch and relaxing at the pool...

Well fortified after our usual great breakfast at the Executive club on the 45th floor of the hotel, we set out visiting all the places we love.

Our driver was waiting for us at the front of the hotel, and off we went to our first stop, the Bird Park, a place specifically designated for the sole purpose where the locals can bring their birds to enjoy the outdoors.

We also visited the Flower Market, it's filled with the most beautiful flowers of all types

Since it was our first clear sunny day, we went to Victoria Peak. Victoria Peak is a mountain on the western half of Hong Kong Island. It is also known as Mount Austin, and locally as The Peak. With an elevation of 1800 ft. The views are spectacular.
Our next stop was a return to one of our favorite restaurant Mott 32
deeelicious as always

We walked back from lunch to our hotel and looking down from the pedestrian walkway we had our first glimpse of a peaceful demonstration walk.

Upon returning from lunch, we decided to enjoy our first sunny day by the pool

All in all it was a great day and looking forward to dinner at Lei Gardens in the IFC Mall
