Birds, Flowers and Good Luck

We started our day traveling to the Wan Tai Sin Temple in Kowloon. As we turned the corner of the temple all we could see were vendors stretched out in front of the temple selling brightly colored good luck charms. Myth has it that if you rub the belly of the large brass dragons flanking the entrance good luck will come your way. There were hundreds of people milling about soaking in the atmosphere.
On the lower level of the temple there are about one hundred fortune tellers doing a very brisk business.

We then drove to the bird park passing through the flower market. The streets were filled with shops selling gorgeous orchids, and flowers of all types and colors. The streets were lined with blooming trees and plants.

Our next stop was the bird park. There we saw lots of elderly gentlemen sitting on benches with their singing birds, in small wooden cages hanging from the trees and stands, singing to each other.
There were many different types of birds for sale such as parrots, cockatoos and canaries. There was one cage of lovebirds that had beautiful colored feathers. The weather was wonderful, and the park was very busy. The songs of the birds were all around us.

It was time for lunch so we stopped at the Peninsula Hotel and had a salad in their famous lobby. We walked to the ferry from there and returned to the hotel. Once there we sat out at the pool, and just enjoyed being here.
