Today was the day that we have been waiting for. Our much anticipated trip to the Tia Tian Buddha was about to begin. We were picked up at the hotel for our 1 hour drive to Lantau Island. We had a choice of going by subway then a cable car and then by bus to reach the Buddha, or hiring a specially licensed car service to take us there. The ride was very enjoyable with beautiful water views, and no traffic. There were oxen roaming loose along the road, and also at the Buddha.
At first glance the Buddha was magnificent sitting high up on the mountain. Our first view was a side view as we walked toward the Buddha.
We walked down a path lined with the statues of the 12 generals that guard the way.
Then before us was the Buddha sitting on
a lotus blossom. There are over two hundred steps leading up to the Buddha.
We chose to admire him from the bottom, we both felt that this was truly a magical day.
